This Thing Called Life | A Year in Review | Photography with Cassie
This is what photography is best at…remembering. Here’s my year in review, a chance to reflect on the journey, rather than the destination. It’s interesting to look back on things that have changed, stayed the same, knowledge grown, friendships fostered and lives well loved.
Queenstown, New Zealand opened my eyes to incredible beauty and nostalgic feelings of home welled up inside me. She’s grand in the humblest of ways.
I photographed weddings where I couldn’t stop watching the connections between people. The way their faces softened when their loves walked in. Their attention to helping those around them celebrate love.
I learnt a little more of the way people see themselves. The great divide between beauty and confidence and a little of how to help build a bridge between the two.
Friends enriched my life through our adventures and yet I missed their contact more than ever. I discovered home is always home and yet I still felt that old restless soul.
Bali held us in it’s warmth and hustle, inspired us to create and reflect, made us question what we were doing everyday, in the best way.
Life happened and it’s so hard to look back and say yes, I was present in every moment but here’s to hoping the way I’ve captured it can take me back to those moments and memories. Posting this here has inspired me to go and pick my camera up, right now, to capture more of life, the great and ordinary, to nurture my creativity and share my soul findings…here’s to remembering
